Finish Your Interview Strongly

The way you finish your interview is just as important as how you conduct yourself during it. It is important to leave potential employees with a good feeling about you, but also to see to your own needs and queries.

Salary Negotiations

For many candidates in interviews, this is a real sticking point. It is very easy to undersell oneself, particularly when trying to impress and sell yourself to a potential employer. If you believe that you have all of the skills that you need to fulfill the job in question, then ask for the salary that is being offered. If you have the specific skill set, then you deserve that salary.

Asking Questions

Employers normally ask at the end of an interview if you have any questions. It’s always good to ask questions as it shows your interest in the role being offered. Questions about holiday, sick pay or benefits will cast you in a bad light and should be avoided at this stage in the process, but use the opportunity to ask intelligent questions and show your interest.

Timescale

Another opportunity to show that you are interested and enthusiastic about the role is to enquire as to the timescale that you might hear about the appointment. This shows that you’re keen and proactive. You could also ask how many other candidates are being interviewed showing further interest in the process and the role itself.

Say Thank You

Always take the opportunity to say thank you for the opportunity and to say thank you to the receptionist too. Manners cost nothing and they present you in an extremely positive light.
