Introducing the Earthscraper…

What is the most incredible construction project you have ever worked on? What’s the most impressive that you have ever seen? The world is home to some of the most awe-inspiring feats of construction that you can possibly imagine. The Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur or the CN Tower in Toronto immediately spring to mind.

But what about the incredible and innovative project, the Earthscraper in Mexico City.

Digging Deep

In trying to cope with growing residential challenges, Mexico City may go against the traditional of building up, and dig deep into the ground, creating a 300m underground pyramid. The unique design is the concept of Mexican architecture firm BNKR Architectura, first created in late 2011, and would form a 65-storey feature. Surely a successful way of approaching dense population issues.

Global Reach?

It would appear that the trend of building down is not strictly limited to Mexico City. The financial elite of London have seemingly adopted immense basement extensions as their latest trend, with applications for extensions of this sort rising dramatical`ly in recent years in Kensington and Chelsea, although nothing on the scale of the might Earthscraper.

Further details about the project can be found here.
